January 17, 2018: Mobility Windows Client Incompatible With Expected Windows Updates
Summary: As is true of many other software companies NetMotion has discovered all current versions of the Mobility client are incompatible with some upcoming updates to Windows. Though not part of the initial Spectre and Meltdown updates, when these Windows updates are applied, systems running any Mobility client for Windows prior to 11.32 will not operate as expected. You MUST upgrade to Mobility v11.32 before applying them. Do not delay.Advisory: Current versions of Mobility are fully compatible with the initial round of Microsoft’s Spectre and Meltdown updates. We expect that Microsoft will release more patches addressing these vulnerabilities; we will keep you informed as to whether they will affect your NetMotion deployment. In the wake of the initial round of patches, we learned that Microsoft’s Windows 10 Spring release is incompatible with all current versions of the Mobility client; In the past the Spring release has been available in the March timeframe but with the current situation involving Spectre and Meltdown, we cannot be sure these releases will not happen sooner. We also expect updates to Windows 8 and 7 will also be incompatible. We are releasing v11.32 clients for all Windows platforms to address the incompatibilityIf you apply the upcoming Windows update, systems running any Mobility client for Windows prior to 11.32 will not operate as expected. Download un rar for mac.Because we don’t know precisely when Microsoft will release the updates, you must upgrade your Windows systems to Mobility v11.32 as soon as possible. Do not delay.- Uninstall any existing VPN client that may be installed and reboot before continuing. Having multiple VPN clients installed (Cisco, NetScreen, etc.) will cause conflicts and is not a supported configuration.
- The Computer name in the network settings should be changed to match that of the terminal name that will be used on this computer. Do this before you install the NetMotion Mobility client when possible.
- If the PC will have a personal firewall installed, see Interoperability with Personal Firewall Products technical note.
- End of support for Windows XP is January 1, 2015. Full NetMotion announcement.
- Download the newest NetMotion Mobility XE/XG Client Software (unless advised otherwise) for the operating system. It is recommended that the latest client be installed. For Windows 7/8/10, use the XG client over XE.

- If you receive an Error 1723, 'A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run' you need to update the Windows Installer on the computer. NetMotion recommends that you update the windows installer to version 3.1 and which should resolve the problem. You can get the windows installer from the following link: Microsoft Windows Installer
- Use the following command to confirm connectivity to the Mobility server:
C:Program FilesNetMotion ClientTellmes -E209.234.102.215
Note the E is uppercase and is not followed by a space. - During the NetMotion Mobility XE client setup, you will be asked about the server address. Click the 'Use the following server address' option and enter the domain address nmo1.smc911dispatch.org then click next to complete the installation. After the setup has completed, reboot your computer as requested.
- When prompted for the NetMotion Login (user name & password):
- The default username is cad for the username and password prompts. Leave the domain set to none.
- Or, click the bypass button to continue.
- NetMotion tray icon status
- At this point, each PC needs to be 'authorized' on the NetMotion server. Contact PSC's SMU Help Desk, and make sure you have the computer name and if possible be at the PC.
- Logon:
- NetMotion Mobility requires a logon, the username and password of the PC should be changed to match the NetMotion login. By keeping the Windows logon username and password the same as the NetMotion logon, the user is only asked once for the username and password. Otherwise, the user would need logon to Windows and NetMotion.
- To enable automatic logon, see How To Enable Automatic Logon technical note. When Windows is set to automatic logon and set with the same username and password as required by the NetMotion logon, the user is never prompted for the logon information.
- Note when using Disk Cloning Software (i.e. Ghost)When disk cloning, its very important not to duplicate Permanent Identification Number (PID) assigned to multiple computers. The PID must be unique because duplicate PIDs cause sessions to disconnect. If you connected to the NetMotion Mobility Server while creating the clone images, you can edit the Windows Registry to delete the PID number before using the clone images to deploy Mobility client.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP - Using RegEdit, delete the binary value 'PID' stored under the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesNetMotionMobility Client
Once the registry key has been deleted, you are ready to close the drive. - Known software conflicts:
- Symantec Antivirus - The Internet Worm Protection feature of Symantec Antivirus when enabled will prevent the Netmotion client from connecting. To allow the Netmotion client to connect, disable the Internet Worm Protection.
- Windows XP with SP2 or Windows 2003 SP1 Boot Failure - Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SP1 running newer hardware with Data Execution Protection (DEP) enabled, you may see problems in booting when the Mobility client in installed. DEP will need to be disabled to allow the PC to boot normally. NetMotion tech note on how disable DEP.
- Extended Daylight Saving Time:The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the U.S. by approximately four weeks. As a result, beginning in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier on March 11, 2007, and end one week later on November 4, 2007, resulting in a new DST period that is four weeks longer than previously observed. Download wingdings for mac pages. Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, it is possible that the time zone settings for your computer's system clock may be incorrect during this four week period. In certain situations this could prevent a Mobility client from authenticating to a Mobility server.Indesign cc download mac free. For more information, see Microsoft's Daylight Saving Time Help and Support Center.Mobility receives all its time- and clock-related data from the Windows operating system. Mobility is configured to use NTLMv2 for authentication, a client device is not allowed to authenticate to the server unless its system clock is within 30 minutes of the server's system clock. You will need to apply a patch from Microsoft to your Mobility client devices to ensure they are updated with the new DST start and end dates.
- Windows Vista:NetMotion Mobility is only supported on Vista Business edition, Home editions (Basic or Premium) are NOT support and will NOT install. Windows Vista 32-bit (Business, Enterprise, Ultimate) is supported. How to download viber on mac computer.
- NetMotion client starts before wireless card is started:With newer and faster laptops, its now possible that the NetMotion client will be started before the wireless card software has started. When this occurs, NetMotion returns an error and will not connect. To resolve this problem, create a .BAT file with the following statement,
https://cleanpowerful.weebly.com/traktor-pro-3-key-detection.html. and add it to the startup folder (either the specific user or all users). This will cause NetMotion to wait until the network connections are setup before connecting. - CAD Software Installation
- If you will be accessing the County CAD system using PCMSS software, click here to download the most current software (executable and configuration files).
- The CAD server IP address that is set in the Dispterm.mss file shall be set to 10.14.1.161.
- Miscellaneous
- Auto-updating anti-virus scanning software is a must (i.e. McAfee, Symantec, etc). With the high number of Internet virus/worms making the rounds, anti-virus software is cheap protection against infection. It is highly recommended that the anti-virus software auto-update feature be enabled.
- There is a free utility that you can download to measure wireless network latency. You can download the freeware version of Ping Plotter 1.10 from www.PingPlotter.com. Once installed, you can use the address 209.234.102.215 to trace. Recommended settings 10 seconds for the trace delay and 1,000 samples to include. You can also change the warning colors (edit, options) and set the yellow speed to 1000 and the red speed 2000.
